Large-scale modernization allowed “Electrokabel” Kolchuginsky Zavod” to increase the production of power cables
Kolchugino (Vladimirskaya oblast)
In the workshop No. 3 of JSC “Electrokabel” Kolchuginsky Zavod” (EKZ), since the beginning of 2017, power cables for low, medium and high voltage have been manufactured for a total amount of more than 1.5 billion rubles. This is 9% more than in the same period last year.
The growth is ensured, among the other things, by a large-scale modernization, which began on the EKZ in 2016. In particular, in workshop number 3, the EPL-30 line was improved to isolate power 6-35 kV cables. In the near future, the second extruder on the Rosendahl line will be launched. "Two extruders will allow us to simultaneously apply an inner shell that filling the gaps between the wires and the outer shell. They can work separately as well. Modernization of workshop facilities gives opportunities to produce high-tech cable products, demanded by the customer," – explained the head of workshop No. 3, Konstantin Bragin.
According to him, the workshop also completed a lot of work to replace the crane tracks. The stage of modernization of the Drum-twister twisting line is almost finished: armor- and tape-wrapping machines have already been installed. The technical re-equipment will increase the number of operations on the line introducing the core screening process.
"We face serious challenges. In the next few years, significant investments in production are planned - more than 1 billion rubles. Production of halogen-free marine cables and control cables will be developed along with the spunbond production. It is also planned to organize the production of cables for voltage up to 300-500 kV. All this will allow us to strengthen our leading positions in the Russian market and expand our presence abroad, "says Vladimir Ivanov, director of “Electrocable” Kolchuginsky Zavod”.
